Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian sports utility vehicle manufacturer has announced that it has sold about 6,50,000 units of the Bolero SUV car model in the Indian car market since its launch in the year 2000.
According to the Indian carmaker, the Bolero is the fifth highest selling passenger car for the period April-September 2013. The SUV has witnessed a sales growth of 17 percent in the 2012-13 fiscal selling 1,17,665 units in comparison to 1,00,686 units sold in the fiscal 2011-12. These figures make it the only Indian SUV to sell more than 1,00,000 units for two consecutive years.
Commenting about the sales of the Bolero SUV, Mr. Pravin Shah Chief Executive – Automotive Division Mahindra & Mahindra stated that the car model has been updated and evolved in accordance with the lifestyle and aspirations of the customers.
The SUV, which was earlier upgraded with new features and design in 2013, is equipped with a 2.5 liter diesel engine which offers 62PS of power and 195Nm of peak torque.
