Mercedes Benz India, the Indian arm of the German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz has launched the locally produced S-350 CDI car model in the Indian car market. The carmaker has also started manufacturing the body for the S Class in India.
The locally produced car model has been priced at Rs 1.07 crore (Ex-showroom Maharashtra) and is now available at all company dealerships across the country.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Eberhard Kern CMD of Mercedes-Benz India stated that the production localization of the S-350 is an important step towards local value addition. Earlier, the carmaker was sourcing of the panels for the car models from Germany. The implementation of manufacturing and paint job for the car models at Indian plant will increase the localization level from 30 percent to 40 percent.
