Maruti Suzuki India has added a pedestrian safety alarm feature to the electric hybrid variants of its SUV Grand Vitara. The new feature, called Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), emits a low-level sound that can be heard up to five feet away. This helps to alert pedestrians and other nearby drivers to the presence of the vehicle, especially in low-visibility conditions.

The AVAS system is a requirement for all electric and hybrid vehicles in India from April 2023. Maruti Suzuki has already started installing the system in the Grand Vitara’s electric hybrid variants, and the price of the vehicle has been increased by up to Rs 4,000 to accommodate the cost of the new feature.

The addition of the AVAS system is a welcome safety measure, as it can help to prevent accidents involving pedestrians and other vulnerable road users. The system is also compliant with upcoming regulations, which makes the Grand Vitara a more attractive proposition for buyers.

In addition to the AVAS system, the Grand Vitara hybrid also comes with a number of other safety features, including:

    • Dual front airbags
    • Side Airbags
    • Curtain Airbags
    • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
    • Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)
    • Hill Hold Assist
    • Vehicle stability control

These features make the Grand Vitara one of the safest SUVs in its class, and the addition of the AVAS system further enhances its safety credentials.

The Maruti Grand Vitara hybrid is a well-rounded SUV that offers a good balance of performance, fuel economy, and safety. The addition of the AVAS system is a welcome addition, and it makes the Grand Vitara an even more attractive proposition for buyers.

Here are some of the benefits of the AVAS system:

    • It can help to prevent accidents involving pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
    • It is compliant with upcoming regulations.
    • It can make the vehicle more noticeable to other drivers, especially in low-visibility conditions.
    • It can help to reduce noise pollution

Overall, the AVAS system is a valuable safety feature that can help to make the roads safer for everyone.
