Mercedes Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz is considering doubling its production capacity at its manufacturing plant at Chakan near Pune.
According to Mr. Boris Fitz Vice President (Sales and Network Development) Mercedes-Benz India, the approvals for the capacity expansion are in process and the implementation of expansion has already begun.
Post the capacity expansion, the total capacity of the luxury carmaker will increase from the current output of 10,000 units to 20,000 units annually.
Mr. Fitz further added that the automaker expects a double digit growth in the current calendar year 2014.
