    Maruti to expand presence in Europe

    Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) wants to further expand its presence in Europe and achieve an export target of 2 lakh cars by 2010-2011. The company’s dedicated car terminal, coming up at Mundra Port in Mumbai, will be operational by January 2009 and will be used for exports meant exclusively for the European Union. The terminal is spread over 35 acres of land and can accommodate 30,000 cars. The first car to be the exported from there will be the Maruti A-Star. Currently, Maruti’s biggest export destination is the Netherlands. Other important European markets are France, Hungary, the UK and Italy.
