Mercedes Benz India, the Indian arm of the German automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz has launched the G63 AMG premium sports utility vehicle in the Indian car market. The launch of the premium SUV is in line with the companyโs plans to launch new car models in the Indian market with the aim of expanding its product portfolio.
Priced at Rs 1.45 crore (Ex-showroom Mumbai), the G63 AMG SUV replaces the G55 AMG which was launched in India by the carmaker in 2011. According to Mr. Eberhard Kern Managing Director & Chief Executive Mercedes Benz India, the German automaker will be launching three more new car models including the A-Class premium hatchback, a diesel version of the B-Class and the SUV GL.
Commenting on the upcoming Budget in February 2013, Mr. Kern stated that the carmaker expects relaxation in taxes to be implemented and added that the taxes in India are already higher than in any other auto market.
Talking further about the companyโs expansion plans in India, Mr. Kern added that 6 new outlets will be added in the India car market and the production output at its Chakan facility will be doubled by 2014 to support the fresh demand.
