General Motors (GM) India, the Indian arm of the American automobile manufacturer General Motors has posted a growth of 14 percent in its sales for the month of October 2013. The American automaker sold a total of 7,715 cars in the month in comparison to 6,754 units sold in October 2012.

The sales of the carmaker were led by the Beat hatchback with 2,679 units followed by the Chevrolet Enjoy multi-purpose vehicle with 1,965 units and the Chevrolet Sail sedan with 1,837 units.

Mr. P. Balendran Vice President GM India commented on the sales performance of the automaker attributing the sales growth to the festival season and the increasing demand for the new car models. He also stated that the Indian car market is going through tough times and the American automaker doesn’t expect the unfavorable market conditions to stabilize before the general elections in 2014 when a new government takes office.
