Hyundai India sales decline 14.6 percent in October 2013

Hyundai Motor India has posted a decline of 14.6 percent in its sales for the month of October 2013. The Korean automaker sold a total of 50,121 units in the month in comparison to 58,784 units sold in October 2012.

The major chunk of the sales decline was contributed by the fall in exports by the carmaker. Hyundai India exported a total of 14,210 units in the month of October 2013 compared with 23,006 units sold in the same month in 2012, a decline of 38.2 percent. The domestic sales of the automaker grew 0.6 percent selling 36,002 units in comparison to 35,778 units sold in the same month in 2012.

The decline for the second largest car manufacturer and the largest car exporter in India comes amid the festival season when carmakers in India expected to boost sales and offset sluggish sales throughout the year.
