Ford India launched a new version of its mid-sized sedan, the Ford Fiesta, this week. Priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the new Fiesta SXI will be available with two engine options – 1.6 Duratec (petrol) and 1.4 Duratorq (common-rail, turbo diesel). It will come with a 2 year / 100,000 km warranty and also an ‘Extended Warranty’ option, which will cover electrical and mechanical repairs for a longer period. Nigel Wark, Ford India’s Executive Director (Marketing, Sales & Service) said that the new version of the Fiesta has been introduced to appeal to ‘young, suave and style-oriented professionals’. The car will be available at all Ford dealerships starting from the 3rd of August, 2009.
Apart from the Fiesta, Ford Motor Company sells three other models in India – the Ford Fusion, the Ford Endeavour and the Ford Ikon. The company is also planning to launch a small car in the middle of next year and is expanding the production of small car engines at its Maraimalainagar plant near Chennai.
