The automobile manufacturing group, Fiat Chrysler is planning to increase its market share in the Indian automobile market and will be launching nine new car models in the Indian market apart from expanding its sales and service network in India by 2016.
According to Mr. Nagesh Basavanhalli President and Managing Director Fiat Chrysler India Operations, the nine car models to be launched in India will be a combination of refreshed and new models. The launches of the car models would commence in 2013 and will go on till 2016.
The new launches would include car models from Fiat as well as Chrysler and Abarth. The iconic Jeep car model from the Chrysler stable is already scheduled for a launch in the October-December 2013 quarter.
Mr. Basavanhalli further added that the automaker plans to double its market share in India each year till 2016. Currently, the carmaker holds a market share of ‘less than one’ percent. He also stated that the company is looking at the SUV segment in addition to premium hatchbacks and mid-sized sedans.
