German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has announced its plans to enter the used car market and introduce its Das Wealth Auto in India. The company targets about 8-10 dealerships in the used car business by the end of 2012.
According to Mr. Neeraj Garg Director Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, the move is in line with its global plans announced at the Delhi Auto Expo in January 2012 that the Das Wealth Auto will be introduced in India and the pilot project for the same will be implemented by the second quarter of 2012 starting April 2012.
Mr. Garg added that the expansion plans for the business will depend upon the success of the pilot project which will be launched in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in India.
