Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the joint venture between Japanese automaker Toyota and the Indian Kirloskar Group has announced the recall of a total of 8,700 units as part of Toyota’s global recall of 74,00,000 units of these car models due to a malfunction in the power window switches. The affected car models to be recalled are expected to be the Corolla Altis sold between July 30, 2008 and December 31, 2008 and the Camry units sold between September 1, 2006 and July 31, 2008.

According to a press release by the automaker, the power window master switches in the car models manufactured in this specific duration may have become inoperative due to wear and tear. Thus, certain car owners will be notified by letters or by calls about the recall which will be conducted from November 2012 at the authorized Toyota dealers across India.

For absolute surety, the customers may also visit or contact their nearest Toyota dealers to check whether their car falls in the recall period, added the statement by the company.
