Honda Cars India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda has announced its plans to launch an automatic variant of its Brio hatchback on October 18, 2012. The company expects the new launch to encourage sales activity in the Indian car market and boost its sales in the prevailing sluggish economic conditions.
The automatic variant of the hatchback car model is expected to be priced about Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 above the price of the existing variants. It will be powered by the 1.2 liter iVTEC petrol engine and will offer a fuel efficiency of 16.5 kilometers per liter. The car is likely to compete with car models such the A Star by Maruti Suzuki India and the i10 Automatic by Hyundai Motor India.
The Japanese car manufacturer like many other players in the market is trying all tactics possible to boost car sales with the help of the upcoming festival season which is considered an auspicious time for buying new products in India.
