Tata Motors yesterday launched its certified pre-owned car business called ‘Tata Motors Assured’. Under the programme, customers will be able to exchange their cars for pre-owned Tata Motors vehicles with a 20,000 km/1 year warranty. They will also be offered three free services. The used-car business in the country is still very new and comes under the unorganized sector for the most part. It is thus not very reliable. The biggest benefit of Tata Motors’ scheme is that all pre-owned cars sold through it will have undergone extensive quality checks and refurbishment, thus ensuring that the customer gets only reliable vehicles in good condition.
