Japanese carmaker Toyota may soon start manufacturing its saloon car, the Toyota Camry, in India. The Camry is currently imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Japan, at a 110 per cent composite import duty. Priced at Rs. 21 lakh, it is in the same segment as the Mercedes C Class and the Skoda Superb. If manufactured in India, its cost will come down by Rs. 4 lakh, thus putting it in the much larger executive car segment along with the Honda Accord and the Hyundai Sonata.
