German sports car maker Porsche has announced its plans to import cars in India through its parent company the Volkswagen Group. Commenting on the development, Mr. Anil Reddi Head Porsche Division at Volkswagen Group Sales India stated that the company will commence the operations of the new tie-up with the launch of the new 911 Carrera and the Panamera Diesel.
The new generation 911 Carrera is a rear wheel drive car that offers 354.8PS of power and a peak torque of 390Nm @ 5,600rpm with a price tag of Rs 96,97,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The Panamera Diesel car model offers 253.4PS of power @ 3,800 – 4,400rpm and a peak torque of 550Nm @ 1,750 – 2,750rpm. The Panamera comes with a top speed of 242 kilometers per hour.
After appointing Volkswagen as its official importer in India, Porsche is also considering an improvement in the distribution related areas among its India operations as well as expanding its dealership network in the country.
