Maruti Suzuki is ready to launch the compact model of its sedan Maruti Swift DZire in India by the beginning of 2012. According to the sources, the company is gearing to launch its compact sedan at the upcoming Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. Speculations are that the company might also unveil its MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) Maruti RIII at the Auto Expo show.
The company had originally scheduled to launch the Maruti Swift DZire by the end of 2011, but had to push the launch date for early 2012 as the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan and the labourer’s strike at its Manesar plant in India delayed its plan.
Though the company has not disclosed the price, the new Swift Dzire sedan is expected to be Rs. 30,000 cheaper than its existing model, and will be fitted with the same 1.2 liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet Diesel engine, as used in the existing models. Speculations are also doing rounds that both the petrol and diesel variants will be launched with enhanced value added features to take on the Tata Manza compact sedan, the Mahidra Verito compact sedan and the Tata Indigo CS compact sedan.
