A 100-year old Rolls Royce once owned by Mr. Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, the former ruler of Mysore, will soon be auctioned in the UK next month and is expected to fetch around £4,00,000 (around Rs. 3.02 crore).
The Silver Ghost 40/50 hp six-cylinder car which will be auctioned was customized by a colorful umbrella upon the request of Krishna Raja Wadiyar. The car was a ceremonial car for the royal and was called the ‘Victoria.’ Interestingly, of all the buyers for the model, Indian buyers were in majority as the royals prized the quality of Rolls-Royce and its capability to run on the tough terrains in India.
Another Silver Ghost Rolls-Royce which will be up for auction has been attributed as a 1908 make, which makes it one of the four surviving cars from that year’s production. The car has three seat rows and bears an open touring coachwork. The model was used as a test vehicle prior to the International Touring Car Trial by the Works at Brooklands.
