New Porsche Panamera revealed and it finally looks good

    New Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera has always been considered the family car Porsche, or the mom and dad Porsche, because it simply didn’t have that aesthetic appeal to it, and of course it was a heavy car, instead of a light and agile sports car. But things might be looking good for the image of the Panamera, because the German sports car maker has just revealed the updated model and it looks quite impressive. Built completely from the ground-up, the second-gen Panamera is based on Porsche’s all-new MSB platform and gets new biturbo range of V6 and V8 engines.

The new Panamera is entirely new and Porsche has revised the mechanicals and more importantly styling of the new model heavily. The dimensions of the car have been increased slightly but the overall look is much more aggressive as it gets new air intakes, a new grille and LED headlights with signature four-point LED DRLs. The front end retains the long and sweeping bonnet, but the wheels are pushed further forward to reduce the front overhang. Towards the side and back, the fast roof line is now 20mm lower and it gets new 911-esque LED tail lights which are interconnected by a narrow LED strip.

Porsche has introduced the new Panamera in three trims – Turbo, 4S and 4S Diesel. The Turbo sits at the top of the range with a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 delivering 542bhp and 770Nm of torque. It does a 0-100 sprint in 3.8 seconds (3.6 seconds with a top speed of 306kmph.Next is the new 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol in the 4S with 434bhp and 550Nm. The 4S Diesel on the other hand is touted as the fastest diesel production car in the world by its maker. It features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel mill that churns out 416bhp along with a monstrous 850Nm of torque. It will be able to do a 0-100 sprint in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 285kmph.
