According to reports from a private car dealer, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO racer has become the most expensive car ever sold after it was acquired for an outrageous sum of just that amount. The buyer of the vehicle is unknown, but the sale has been confirmed by collector Paul Pappalardo, who is now a lot richer than he was before. Apparently the car has a distinguished history that includes a 1963 Tour de France road race victory and was driven by French driving legend Jean Guichet. The previous record for most ridiculous price paid for a car was also held by a Ferrari GTO 250 but that was a 1962 model that was driven by Sir Stirling Moss and it fetched a price tag of US$ 35 million.
