Things are looking very good for Mercedes-Benz India as the German carmaker has announced a 58 percent year-on-year growth for the July to September period. This has been the best third quarter ever for them and in the first 9 months of 2013 they have had a sales growth of 31 percent, which is better than their main rivals.
Mercedes-Benz India sold a total of 2,696 units as against 1,703 units for the same period last year bringing their year total to 6461, and still with 3 more months to go. The growth can be attributed to their larger product portfolio and the addition of smaller cars such as the A Class and the B Class. However, Audi has managed to sell more cars than Mercedes so far this year, with a sales figure for the first 9 months at 7,391 units.
But the numbers suggests that Mercedes has indeed made a proper come back into the Indian market with stronger growth than other luxury brands. Eberhard Kern, managing director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “Fundamentally strong brands like Mercedes-Benz perform robustly amidst challenging market conditions and it reiterates the fact that the Three Pointed Star remains to be the most preferred luxury auto brand amongst customers.”
