India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India has announced its plans to extend the environment friendly CNG fuel option to other models in its portfolio. Currently, the CNG variant is available in five of its models, namely the Alto, the WagonR, the Estilo, the Eeco and the SX4 sedan.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Chairman Mr. R C Bhargava stated that the auto industry requires adequate support and backing from the government in terms of making the CNG fuel available across the country, thus enabling customers to use eco-friendly fuel powered vehicles.
The company is also engaged in developing hybrid and electric vehicles for commercial use, which can meet the requirements of the Indian customers and are cost effective at the same time.
With its focus at reducing its carbon footprint, Maruti Suzuki has been implementing cut down on CO2 emissions through various initiatives. It has achieved significant CO2 reductions at its Gurgaon and Manesar plant by saving on electricity and water consumption.
