Mahindra has officially launched the Automatic Transmission in its XUV500 model with W8 FWD AT, W10 FWD AT and W10 AWD AT variants at a starting price Rs. INR 15.53 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). These 6-speed automatic variants of Mahindra XUV500 will available across all dealerships in India from the 5th of December this year.
Mahindra XUV500 Automatic features:
Company announced that the XUV500 is the only SUV in its class which is offering a 2nd generation 6-speed automatic transmission with AWD as an option. This AT transmission is the same used in the SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV and sourced for the first time from leading global supplier, AISIN, Japan.
The XUV500 Automatic with torque convertor and a planetary gear-train which allows dynamic gear shifts that are smooth and barely perceptible. It is optimized to ensure that the engine uses the minimum amount of fuel and deliver best mileage. It also comes with an option of All Wheel Drive (AWD) which ensures that the vehicle torque is suitably distributed between the wheels to provide the best traction on rugged or slippery roads, by sensing the difference in RPM between the front and rear wheels.
The new transmission is capable of providing brisk acceleration and smooth delivery of torque across all 6 gears and it comes with a “creep function” to aid in slow moving traffic.

Mahindra XUV500 Automatic engine and mileage:
In-terms of engine technology remain the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that generates the same 140 bhp of power and 330 Nm of torque. The company claims to deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 13.85 kmpl for the Automatic transmission.
