Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, which is part of the Indian automaker Mahindra Group has entered into a strategic partnership alliance with Vodafone Business Services (VBS), the enterprise arm of the telecommunications service provider Vodafone India.
Through this partnership, Vodafone India will provide machine-to-machine (M2M) communication services for the new electric vehicle e2o launched by Mahindra Reva. This collaboration has enabled the e2o to become one of the few telematics supporting vehicles in the world.
Vodafone’s connectivity will enable e2o owners to access various services through their smartphones and computer over the internet. These services include monitoring the state of charge in the car’s battery and the estimated distance the car can travel on that charge, remotely controlling the air-conditioning of the car, locking or unlocking the car doors, locating the nearest charging stations and receiving alerts about events such as disruption in charging, safety reminders and parking brake information.
