Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched a new model of the Sonata, called the ‘Sonata Transform’, yesterday. The company could sell only 233 units of the Sonata from April-December 2008, as against 449 units in the same period the previous year. With the launch of the new model, it hopes to push up the sales of the car to at least 1,000 units an year.
On the other hand, the launch of the Sports Utility Vehicle Santa Fe, which was to be produced as a CBU in India, has been put off for the time being. This is in view of the auto sector’s unstable state.
Hyundai’s other recently launched car, the i20, has already garnered a good degree of popularity, with the company bagging as many as 2,000 orders for the car in the very first month of its launch. Its sales-target for the i20 is 1,500 units per month and 20,000 units annually in the domestic market.

The Sonata Transform is the upgraded version of Sonata Embera and carries changes both in exterior and interior. The luxury car is now looks more classy as well as is loaded with features.
