General Motors India, the Indian subsidiary of the American car manufacturer General Motors has launched the Sail U-VA premium hatchback in India at an entry level price of Rs 4,44,000. The hatchback is available in both petrol and diesel versions. It is also the first vehicle launched in partnership with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC).
The car model is equipped with a 1.3 liter diesel engine and a 1.2 liter petrol engine optionally and is being offered with a three year or 1,00,000 kilometers warranty, whichever comes earlier. The petrol version is claimed to offer a mileage of 18.2 kilometers per liter while the diesel version will offer a mileage of 22.1 kilometers per liter.
The petrol version of the car is priced between the range of Rs 4,44,000 to Rs 5,58,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi) while the diesel version is priced between Rs 5,87,000 to Rs 6,62,000 (Ex-showroom Delhi). The new premium hatchback is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Hyundai i20 and the Ford Figo.
