Automaker Ford India is considering launching a small car in the Indian market by 2010.
Speaking to the press on the launch of the new sports version of its sedan Fiesta, Mr. Michael Boneham said that the small car segment holds 75 per cent in Indian market and on the launch of the small car real volumes for Ford will come in.
They are considering petrol and diesel variants of the proposed new small car which is being designed keeping in mind the Indian conditions. It will mark their entry into a completely new segment.
Ford India has already announced an investment of $500 million for setting up a new facility for manufacturing small car and engines.
