Ford India the Indian subsidiary of the American automobile manufacturer launched the petrol variant of the sedan Ford Fiesta with an automatic transmission on February 28, 2012. The new sedan variant has been priced between Rs 8,99,000 and Rs 9,70,000 (Ex-showroom price Delhi). Equipped with a six speed Automatic Powershift, the new sedan is capable of touching 100 kmph in 12.1 seconds.
According to Mr. Michael Boneham President and Managing Director Ford India, the affordable price of the new variant will help open up the segment further for the customers. Moreover, he adds that the new variant has a better fuel efficiency that the manual version.
The company already has an automatic variant of its SUV Ford Endeavour and Ford Fiesta became the second automatic car to be launched. Ford India has plans to launch more automatic variants of its existing cars in India by 2014-15, says Mr. Boneham.
