    Audi overtakes Mercedes in India

If it didn’t hurt Mercedes-Benz enough when fellow German giant BMW flew past them in terms of sales figures in India, this will surely bring them down to their knees as another fellow German giant, Audi has just overtaken Mercedes as well. Mercedes may have dominated the luxury car market in India for 15 years, but now they have fallen to third place as both BMW and Audi sell more cars than them now. So far this year up until March, BMW has sold 2369 units, Audi sold 2269 units and Mercedes sold 2130 units. BMW has been very aggressive in the Indian market and with the X1 they managed to change the game. Audi has followed closely but has been more aggressive in the recent months in terms of product offerings and has been very consistent. While BMW is on top, Audi’s growth rate is faster and it looks like they might even overtake market leaders BMW very soon. The Q3 is about to arrive and this will also be a new game changer. Meanwhile Mercedes is also planning on bringing in some new products for India to step their own game up. Bottom line is the only things good here is that the customer will benefit.
