German automobile manufacturer Audi has unveiled its sports car Audi TT in India at a price tag of Rs 48,36,000. The new car will hit the Indian markets in June 2012 and will be launched as a completely built unit (CBU). With the launch of this new car model, the company is expanding its car portfolio in India.
According to Mr. Michael Perschke Audi India Head, the company expects to strengthen its position as the leader in the sports car segment in India. The price for the new car takes into consideration the custom duty hike announced in the Budget 2012-13 on March 16, 2012. Mr. Perschke adds that the car lies in the niche segment and thus can’t be expected to turn up volume sales. The company expects sales of 25-35 units in the year 2012 and targets selling more than 50 units in 2013.
The new sports car is equipped with a 2.0 TFSI engine and is capable of attaining a speed of 100 kilometers per hour within 5.6 seconds.
