Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian arm of the Japanese automaker Toyota has announced its decision to cut down production by extending the production holidays to 8 eight days in a month at its Bidadi manufacturing facility near Bangalore.

According to Mr. Shekar Viswanathan Vice-Chairman and Whole-Time Director of Toyota Kiroloskar Motor, the carmaker has an inventory pile up of 3,000 units at the production facility. In order to avoid further pile up, the automaker has started taking production holidays up to 8 days in a month since the April-June 2013 quarter.

While the automaker’s two production plant at Bidadi have an annual manufacturing capacity of 3,10,000 units, its sales for the fiscal 2012-13 stood at 1,90,000 units. Moreover, the carmaker expects the sales to plunge further down in the current fiscal 2013-14.
