Ford Motor India has announced a heavy discount on its mid-sized sedan, the Ford Fiesta, for ten days starting from December 3, 2008. The company is following in the footsteps of its rival Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI), which sold the Civic hybrid at an unprecedented 37 per cent discount for a limited period, a move that turned out to be immensely successful in terms of sales.
The petrol version of the Fiesta which is originally priced Rs. 6.20 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) is being sold at a price of Rs. 5.29 lakh under the new scheme, while the diesel version is being sold for Rs 6.59 lakh. The offer has come in the hope of getting people to buy the car at a time when demand for vehicles is falling rapidly across the auto sector.
