We have already told you about the new trend in most automobile designs, and that is the coming of the compact SUV and MPV vehicle. And this trend doesn’t just stick to low cost cars, as Audi has gotten in the Q3. Now its Mercedes-Benz’ turn, and they have just brought in a brand new compact SUV called the GLA. Somewhat of a cross between a GL-Class and the A-Class hatch, the GLA actually is built on the A-Class frame, but has been lifted up higher and made to look more muscular. So it is essentially a hatch on steroids.
The GLA is the first Mercedes-Benz SUV to be optionally available with the new-generation permanent all-wheel drive system 4MATIC, with fully variable torque distribution in the UK. In Europe, The GLA 200 CDI develops 136 hp and maximum torque of 300 Nm and has a displacement of 2.2 litres. The GLA 250 4MATIC will have almost 211bhp and will be able to sprint from zero to 100kmph in only 6.5 seconds, underlining the dynamic claim to leadership of the GLA-Class.
The GLA will definitely make its way to India very soon, because the compact SUV market is booming at the moment, and the fact the Mercedes has already brought in the B-Class and the A-Class, is only further proof that they wish to attract more customers in these segments.
