Just a little over a week has gone by since BMW launched its first product from the ‘i’ brand, and now they have come out with the second one called the i8. The car is the first ever plug-in hybrid vehicle from the BMW Group and is probably the world’s most forward-looking sports car, since it does look a little ahead of its time.
All you need to know is that this is one of the most advanced electric hybrid cars in the market today and it has some very impressive specifications. The Plug-in hybrid system developed and produced by the BMW Group represents the latest development stage of Efficient Dynamics and it is the debut for the 3-cylinder petrol engine that runs on BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine has a displacement of 1.5 litres and can create around 231bhp with 320Nm of torque. But it doesn’t end there as the electric motor can also create an additional 131bhp and 250Nm of torque – that is some serious charge.
According to BMW the car can travel from 0-100kmph in just 4.4 seconds. There will also be various driving modes and plenty of other technologies in the car that make it very special indeed. The i8 will hit showrooms very soon, but there are no plans for an Indian launch just yet.
