Skoda India has launches the refreshed version of its C-segment sedan Skoda Rapid 2014 at starting price from Rs. 7.22 lakh to Rs. Rs 9.81 lakh for petrol and from 8.38 lakh to 10.97 lakh for diesel variant in Delhi ex-showroom. The main highlight of the 2014 Rapid is the new 1.5-litre diesel engine which develops 105 PS of power at 4,400 rpm and 250Nm of torque at 1500-2500 rpm. This same engine is using in the Volkswagen Polo GT TDI and newly launched Vento. As Skoda Auto is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. The new Skoda Rapid 2014 comes in four variants – Active, Ambition, Ambition Plus and Elegance.
The petrol version of Skoda is carrying the same 1.6-litre petrol engine which producing 105 PS of power at 5250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque at 3800 rpm.

This both engine has a 5-speed manual transmission but a 7-Speed DSG Automatic dual clutch gearbox borrowed from the Polo and Vento for 1.5-liter diesel engine while the 6-speed Automatic retained same for the petrol engine. The Rapid DSG gearbox has an certified mileage of 21.6 kmpl as per ARAI and 21.14 kmpl for diesel manual. The petrol version claim 15 kmpl and 14.3 kmpl for the manual and automatic.

The car exterior comes with new set of five spoke alloys wheel for top-end Elegance variant includes black alloys, black fog lamps, black grille and logo, black wing mirrors and black housings projector headlamps as standard and also a glossy black roof and black decals are available as optional accessories.
On the inside changes it comes with revised instrument cluster with new fonts, cruise control, and side airbags, rear parking sensors and a card holder. Also integrated with an downloaded app to connect with smartphone and control the in-car music system.
