Indian auto major Tata Motors saw a decline of 3 percent in its total sales including commercial and passenger vehicles in the month of June 2012. The total domestic sales of the company stood at 58,270 units in June 2012 in comparison to 61,266 units in June 2011, a decline of 5 percent.
The company sold 17,244 units of passenger vehicle in June 2012, 22 percent lower than 21,994 units in June 2011. The biggest contributor to the figure was the Tata Nano with 5,605 unit sales followed by the Tata Indica range with 5,332 units, the Indigo range with 2,658 unit sales and the SUV segment including the Sumo, the Safari, the Aria and the Venture with 3,649 unit sales in June 2012.
On the export front, the company sold 6,071 vehicles in the foreign markets in June 2012 in comparison to 5,094 units sold in June 2011, higher by 19 percent.
