Reva to build world’s largest electric car facility

    carsBy carsJuly 21, 2009Updated:July 11, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

Reva-iBangalore based Reva Electric Car Company (RECC) is planning to build its second manufacturing plant in India. The new facility, expected to be five times the size of the company’s first manufacturing plant in the Bommasandra Industrial Area, will have an initial production capacity of 30,000 electric vehicles. It will be the largest electric car facility in the world. Electric vehicles are gaining in appeal the world over because of environmental concerns, and it is expected that by 2015, the market share of electric cars in India will go up to 5 per cent. RECC is also working on the assumption that, in future, demand for electric cars will only go up.

Recently, car company Bavina Cars India was allotted a 100 acre area to set up India’s second electric car facility in Tamil Nadu. Tata Motors too is planning to venture into the electric car segment sometime soon.
