Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) today announced that it has clocked a domestic sale of 2176 units in the month of September, 2011 compared to 1256 units in September, 2010. This includes initial few days of registered sale of its newly launched mid-size Sedan SUNNY.

SUNNY was launched in Mumbai on September 20, and the booking started immediately. Sale of the car has started on September 22, 2011, and so far a total of 659 units have been billed. Delivery of SUNNY will start from Nissan’s 45 dealerships later this week. SUNNY is priced at Rs 578,000 for its XE base variant, Rs 688,000 for its XL mid variant and Rs 768,000 for top XV variant.

The Micra compact premium hatchback, the first model to be produced at Nissan’s Chennai plant, has accounted 1475 units in September, 2011 compared to 1183 units the same period last year, registering a robust growth of 25%. The X-TRAIL lifestyle SUV, Teana premium sedan and iconic 370Z sports car comprised the remaining sales.

Commenting on the encouraging sales numbers of SUNNY in the initial few days, Mr. Dinesh Jain, Chief Executive Officer, Hover Automotive India, (HAI), Nissan’s sales and marketing partner in India, said, “Sunny is Nissan’s second “made in India” offering to the Indian market. With the valued patronage and support of our valued customers, we are sure we will be able to create a niche market for this product among the quality conscious, price sensitive Indian car users and to become a brand to reckon with in a short period of time.”

The Nissan SUNNY comes with a standard manufacturer’s warranty of 2 years/50,000kms (whichever is earlier), and an extended purchasable warranty of 2 years/30,000 kms. As part of its after-sales commitment, in an effort to handhold the customers and provide them with round-the-clock assistance, Nissan offers a host of customer care and service schemes including Extended Warranty and Roadside Assistance for its products.
