Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the German automobile manufacturer has opened the country’s largest workshop in Mumbai. The company has invested an amount of Rs 52 crore in workshop which is spread in more than 1,00,000 square feet of area. The workshop includes 54 dedicated bays each of which car service 60 cars on a daily basis.

According to Mr. Peter Honegg Managing Director and CEO Mercedes-Benz India, the inauguration of the new showroom is a part of the company’s strategy of expanding its network and presence in India as well as to move closer to its customers with the help of the world-class workshop.

Mr. Honegg further added that the company is now focusing on improving the service provided to the customers and states that the company is leading the industry in services in both numbers as well as quality.

Talking about the depreciation of the Indian rupee and its effect on the import costs and pricing of automobiles in India, Mr. Honegg stated that the company has not passed on any additional burden of higher import costs to its customers. He added however that if the rupee depreciated below Rs 75 against the Euro, it would begin passing on the additional costs to its customers.
