Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian arm of the German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will be revising the prices across its car model range in India. It will be hiking the prices by up to 4 percent.

The hike in prices which comes into effect from January 22, 2015 is being claimed by the automaker to be a result of the end of the excise duty cut on December 31, 2014.

Speaking about the price hike, Mr. Eberhard Kern Managing Director & CEO Mercedes-Benz India stated that the end of the excise duty benefit has compelled the carmaker to pass on the additional cost to its customers. He added that the excise duty relief was beneficial for the automotive sector, especially for luxury carmakers.
