Maruti Suzuki India has launched the Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire compact version at a price between Rs. 4,79,000 and Rs. 7,09,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The newly launched compact sedan is shorter than 4 meters in length and thus qualifies for the lower excise duty of 10 percent as a small car. However, being a sedan, the new car model is expected to compete with the likes of Toyota Etios, Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta Classic and Tata Manza.
The car is claimed to provide a better fuel efficiency than the previous model, the petrol version offering 19.1 kmpl while the diesel version car is capable of 23.4 kmpl. Moreover, 150 new features have been incorporated in the new sedan in comparison to the older Swift DZire model.
A total of Rs. 230 crore has been invested in the development of this new sedan by Maruti Suzukiand associated vendors.
Meanwhile, the company continues to manufacture the previous model of Swift DZire to cater to the market demand and the commercial segment where the car has come to be widely used as a taxi.
