Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has announced its plans to launch the new version of the Alto small car on October 16, 2012. With the launch of the new version of the car model, the company expects to regain lost market share in the small car segment.
The automaker is aiming to boost its sales with the launch of the new Alto which will be offered with a CNG option for customers considering cheaper and more cost efficient car models. The new version of the volume sales car is also expected to lift the buying spirits of consumers in combination with the upcoming festival season.
Faced with numerous troubles since 2011, Maruti Suzuki’s market share has currently fallen below 40 percent of the total car market. The sales of the Alto which has proven to be the best selling car for the company have declined due to high petrol prices and high interest rates to be overtaken by the Swift hatchback which is available with a diesel engine option.
Claiming a fuel efficiency of 22.74 kilometers per liter for the Alto 800, the carmaker also hopes to bring the petro cars back into focus in the Indian car market.
