Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has launched the small car Alto 800 and the Swift DZire compact sedan in the Philippines automobile market. The automaker plans to tap the demand for small cars in the Philippines auto market and expand its export operations.
The Alto 800 has been launched in the Philippines market at an entry level price equivalent to Rs 5,38,000, while the base model of the Swift DZire sedan has been priced equivalent to Rs 6,08,000.
The carmaker also expects the exports to Philippines to offset the low demand and sales in the domestic market. The Japanese carmaker already has a significant portfolio in the Philippines market with models including the Swift hatchback, the A-Star hatchback, the SX4 crossover, the Grand Vitara SUV and the Kizashi premium sedan.
The carmaker targets to double its sales in the region and increase its market share to 6 percent.
