Maruti Suzuki sold over 25 lakh units of its popular hatchback model Maruti Alto which was first launched in September, 2000. It becomes the fastest brand to reach 25 lakh sales units, and take place of second car to clock sales figure of 25 Lakh units in the domestic market after Maruti 800. The Maruti Alto K10 has added 4 lakh units in under four year since its launch then Maruti introduced a revamped version Alto 800 about 12 years after its launch, which sold 1,00,000 units in just 4 months of launch. Maruti launched the Alto 800 marketing its 15 percent higher fuel efficiency and made the CNG variant available from the launch date. The Maruti Suzuki has exported 2.85 lakh units of the Alto.
