    Maruti on the rise again

    carsBy carsFebruary 3, 2009Updated:July 11, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

maruti-dzire1Guess who’s back in business? It’s none other than industry baap Maruti Suzuki, finally emerging from a bad patch and doing what it does best – making competitors sweat to catch up! The market leader has reported a 5.39 per cent increase in its January sales, selling a total of 71,779 vehicles worldwide in Jan 2009, up from 68,107 vehicles sold in the same period last year. All thanks to the lucky triad of the A-Star, the DZire and the Swift, all of which cars have shown a consistent and admirable growth in terms of sales. Even the sales of one-time market dominator, Maruti 800, have grown by 1.85 per cent after a long long time.

Hyundai Motors, on the other hand, could not do as well as its good fortuned rival, with its domestic sales dipping by 13 per cent. Likewise for Tata Motors, which reported a 9 per cent fall in sales in January this year, compared to the same month last year.
