Maruti Alto, the largest selling car model in the Indian market, touched the 10 lakh sales mark this week, a milestone that took Maruti eight years to reach. The 10th lakh unit of the Alto had already been manufactured at Maruti’s Gurgaon plant in February this year. The car is exported to several European countries, including France, Germany, Sweden, the UK, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Finland. Over 1.8 lakh Altos have already found their way to various export destinations the world over. The Maruti 800 was the largest selling car in India before the Alto overtook it a few years back.
