Indian utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has announced that it will be launching a new compact sports utility vehicle in the Indian automobile market by the name of the ‘Quanto’ in the second half of September 2012. The new compact SUV is the company’s smallest SUV by Mahindra till date with a sub-4 meter length and will be priced at around Rs 5,50,000 – Rs . 7,00,000.
The Quanto will be powered by a 1.5 liter diesel engine and being a sub-4 meter in length, the SUV will be able to enjoy similar benefits enjoyed by other car in the sub-4 meter category. According to Mr. Pawan Goenka President Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors Mahindra & Mahindra, the new compact SUV will be targeted at people looking for options in the premium diesel car segment including hatchbacks and diesel.
Mr. Goenka added that the new car with its competitive pricing will be able to carve out a new segment in the Indian automobile market and will be targeted at young people in urban areas with an active lifestyle.
