Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has introduced the compact SUV Quanto on September 20, 2012 with a price range of Rs 5,82,000 to Rs 7,36,000 (Ex showroom Thane). The new SUV has been designed on the Ingenio platform and is claimed by the company to address the need for an SUV in the Indian market that is compact and affordable.
The Quanto is claimed to be the first sub 4 meter compact SUV car model with the ability to seat 7 people (5+2) also claimed to be a first in the segment. The compact SUV is equipped with the mCR100 diesel engine, the first twin stage turbocharged diesel engine to be launched in India. The mileage for the SUV is claimed by the carmaker to be 17.2 kilometers per liter approved by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
The diesel engine of the SUV also features the Micro hybrid technology and meets the BS-4 level emission level standards. The safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, engine immobilizer and intellipark reverse assist.
