Lamborghini has been contemplating whether to launch a four door sedan or an SUV to join its existing line-up. Reports are doing rounds that a decision might be made sometime before the end of year 2011. It was believed initially that the company might launch the production version of the Estoque, but now owing to the market trends, it seems the company might decide in favour of an SUV.
Mr. Christian Mastra, Lamborghini Asia-Pacific head commented that going by the trend, SUVs seem to the choice of the growing markets such as India, China, Brazil and Mexico. He also clarified the company had not yet made its decision.
If Lamborghini decides in favour of an SUV, the company would be following in the footsteps of their competitor Porsche. According to Mastra Lamborghini, if the company decides to produce the SUV, it would be a petrol variant and not a hybrid or a diesel one. The only compromise the company might make to its heritage would be the introduction of a turbocharged engine in its SUV or the sedan, whichever the company decides to produce next.
