India’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor is engaged in studying the commercial vehicle market in India and is planning to introduce its commercial vehicles including high-end and premium trucks in the Indian market as a part of its global strategy to strengthen itself in the segment. Apart from trucks, the commercial vehicles planning to be launched by Hyundai may also consist of buses.

Mr. J.D. Lee, Hyundai Motor Company Deputy General Manager (Commercial vehicle Marketing team), stated that the company initially focused only on the low cost vehicles. However, the market scenario is changing and accordingly, the premium trucks and buses are becoming more profitable. Further, he said that the number of units to be sold in India in the commercial vehicle market has to be ascertained and the service segment for the same has to be planned.
